Carports and Pavilions
The use of heavy timbers for the construction of an open carport or shelter can take various forms. In the most simple application, timber posts and horizontal beams (“post and beam”) support conventional engineered light roof trusses. For a vaulted roof space, a ridge beam can be added in - supported by posts either extending to the ground, or extending to a horizontal transfer beam. Moving up the scale in complexity, the roof can be supported by the use of clear span heavy timber trusses.
