Dodd Residence - Clearwater, B.C.
Elevations
Kurt and Jodie Dodd had a dream for their property.

Floor Plan
Jodie’s hand-sketched floor plan evolved into the final construction documents.

Kurt & Jodie with timbers
Jodie did a lot of the sanding and oiling herself.

Basement timbers
The beams rest on built-up posts in the exterior wall of the hybrid frame.

Pegged joint
The pointed ends of the oak pegs were left ‘proud’.

Raising the frame
The pre-cut mortise and tenon joinery allowed the frame to be assembled quickly.

Frame on basement
The completed frame sits on top of the first floor framing.

Exterior wall wrap
The exterior walls sit completely outside of the finished frame – fully exposing the timbers from within.
Hybrid construction
Wall framing encloses the timberframe and is the structural support under conventional attic trusses.
Interior 1
Jodie’s wooden dining room furniture accents the timbers nicely.
Interior 2
View from the loft down to the living room and kitchen beyond.
Interior 3
The “Nature Rails” reflect wildlife common to the Clearwater area – and not uncommon to Kurt and Jodie’s property!
